Clock face denoting the 90/90/1 deep work time-blocking method.

How the 90/90/1 rule can transform your workday.

Big ideas don’t happen in the margins.

Creative insights. Visionary strategy. The things that actually transform an organisation or community? They need space. Protected, uninterrupted time.

But most purposeful leaders don’t carve that time out. It’s their number one mistake.

They let meetings, Slack pings, and “quick wins” devour their day.

The 90/90/1 rule fixes that, instantly.

For 90 days, protect the first 90 minutes of your workday for one high-impact project.

Not inbox. Not admin. Not firefighting.

Your most important work. First.

Starting is easy:

➊ Identify the one project that would change everything.
➋ Block 90 distraction-free minutes every morning.
➌ Stick with it for 90 days.

Too much? Try 30/30/1. The exact number doesn’t matter.

The point is this: if you don’t make space for what matters most, no-one will.

(This idea changed my workweeks permanently. I go deeper into 90/90/1 in this issue of Theory of Change, including how to stick with it and what to do when life gets in the way).
